Running for Office in North Dakota

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
— Margaret Mead

Running for office can be a rewarding opportunity to spur change and serve your community. Now more than ever, we need conservatives in office who are committed to implementing Biblical principles in state and local policies.

Legislative

Each legislative district is represented by one senator and two representatives. During the legislative session, state legislators create and process bills that will become state law if approved. They also form issue-related committees and debate bills and amendments on the legislative floor. North Dakota’s legislature meets biennially in odd-numbered years.

County and Multi-District

Offices include: County Auditor, County Commissioner, County Recorder Director, Garrison Diversion Conservancy Director, Southwest Water Authority Supervisor, Soil Conservation District, County Sheriff, County State's Attorney, County Treasurer

City

A city council is a group of elected officials who serve as the legislative body of a city. Council members are tasked with representing the interests of their constituents. City councils manage budgets in addition to proposing, passing, and ratifying laws and ordinances.

School District

The school board consists of citizens elected by their community to make decisions about the local public school system based on community expectations, goals, and needs. School board members are responsible to implement the needs of students into policies that will support student achievement.
