The Harms of Social Emotional Learning
Public schools across the state and country have implemented a program called Social Emotional Learning (SEL) that was developed by a Leftist nonprofit organization called the Collaborative for Academic and Social Emotional Learning (CASEL). The curriculum includes topics on emotions such as anger, greed, jealousy, pride, and guilt, and focuses on equity and diversity. SEL seeks to address 'various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities.' SEL is being disguised as an integral and beneficial part of education and childhood development, but in truth, SEL is a vehicle for the poisonous and cult-like tenets of Critical Race Theory and Gender Theory. The primary goal of SEL is to turn students into activists by shaping their opinions and behaviors to align with Leftist ideologies and policies. In addition to political grooming, the federal government collects hundreds of data points on each student through SEL-infused curriculum in the name of social and emotional well-being. Never mind that teachers are not mental health experts and that schools are non-therapeutic settings. Never mind the serious consequences of focusing so much of our energy on social issues while less than half of our students are proficient in reading, math, and science.The behavioral and psychological information that the National Center for Education Statistics receives on each student is extremely useful for the progressive socialists who run the Department of Education because it is used to modify, mold, and control future citizens. This is why the education of our children is on the frontlines of the battle for our country, and why it is critical to know what is being taught in public schools. The misplaced priorities of educational leaders must be addressed if we are to reverse the deplorable state of our public education system and protect children from sexual, racial, and political indoctrination.
