UND’s Gender Policy

However. UND remains committed to spreading the false religion of gender ideology. UND wants to make it as easy as possible for their students to fall prey to the social contagion of transgenderism by providing a Gender Expression Closet. UND is also using the latest term to describe men who appropriate womanhood and steal female spaces and opportunities in their University Council for Women+.

UND is considering joining with the universities across the country that are enforcing Leftist worldviews and philosophies by instituting a radical gender inclusion policy that would, among other things, censor freedom of thought and speech of students and faculty.  A 2019 report by Foundation for Individual Rights in Education analyzed the written policies at 466 of America’s top colleges and universities for their protection of free speech. The report found that 89.7 percent of American colleges maintain policies that restrict student and faculty expression. These restrictions not only violate the 1st Amendment, they threaten a free society by giving our youth the false impression that freedom of speech is a privilege and not a right. This will lead to more and more authoritarian government overreach.

Approximately 800,000 students at top US colleges must find a “free speech zone” to exercise their right to speak freely. This teaches students to avoid critical thinking so as not to come to a conclusion that may result in disciplinary action. The manipulation of free speech policies on college campuses is happening in the wider context of the current and widespread censorship of conservative voices. We must make our voices loud and clear: Freedom of speech is essential to a free and intellectual society. We must encourage, not limit, the free exchange of ideas in any sector of society, but especially in our institutions of higher learning.

This is why North Dakota Can supported House Bill 1503 during last year’s legislative session which ultimately passed into state law.  The expressed purpose of HB 1503, is to “protect students' rights to free speech, assembly, and expression” and only limit those rights through “reasonable and constitutional time, place, and manner restrictions.”

Not only is freedom of speech at stake, but the adoption of transgender ideology is leading to the brainwashing of an entire generation.  Universities and colleges have rightly earned the reputation of indoctrinating college students into Leftist ideologies and if we want to preserve our constitutional republic, we must speak up against the Critical Social Theories that are undermining not only our freedoms, but the mental well-being of our citizens, particularly our young people.

Thank you to The North Dakota Catholic Conference for being on the frontlines of this incredibly important issue. Visit their website for more information that includes a PDF of the proposed policy which was removed from UND’s website as well as letters written to the university from NDCC.

UPDATE: UND made the decision to not implement this policy. 1/21/22
